Why plenty of people miss their share of happiness!
We're here today to discuss William Feathers quote, as he put his finger on one of the core reasons why people miss the feeling of being happy.
William Feather said:
"Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn't stop to enjoy it"
He points out that we often don't enjoy being happy, meaning that we don't stop for a moment to feel grateful that we're happy and live the simple happy moments; in shorter words, we live these moments passively.
At the same time, we're so focused on our problems, issues, and misfortunes, and we take all the time to sit and complain or worry about anything that isn't going well.
Fyodor Dostoevsky said:
"Man is fond of counting his troubles, but he does not count his joys. If he counted them up as he ought to, he would see that every lot has enough happiness provided for it."
We need to feel happiness more actively; we need to stop at every happy moment to enjoy it. Also, we need to count our blessings as we always count our misfortunes.
No one has ever been happy for his whole life or sad his whole life; it's just which one you choose to focus on.
